Is DoctorDocs completely free?
Yes! DoctorDocs is completely free to use. All OCR processing, document editing, and export features are available at no cost. We display ads to support the service, but all core features remain free forever.
Do I need to create an account?
No account required! DoctorDocs works entirely in your browser without any sign-up. Your documents are processed locally on your device for maximum privacy and security.
OCR & Document Processing
What file formats are supported?
DoctorDocs supports the following formats:
- Images: JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, WebP
- Documents: PDF files
What is the maximum file size?
The maximum file size is 100MB for uploads. However, files larger than 4MB will be automatically compressed before processing to ensure optimal performance. For best results, we recommend files under 10MB.
How accurate is the OCR?
Our OCR engine (powered by Tesseract.js) has an accuracy rate of approximately 99.5% for clear, high-quality images with standard fonts. Accuracy may vary depending on image quality, font type, and document condition. For best results, use high-resolution scans with good lighting and contrast.
Can DoctorDocs process handwritten text?
DoctorDocs is optimized for printed text and may have limited success with handwritten content. For best results with handwriting, ensure the text is clear, legible, and written in block letters.
Privacy & Security
Is my data safe and private?
Absolutely! All document processing happens locally in your browser. Your files never leave your device and are not uploaded to our servers. This ensures 100% privacy and security for your sensitive documents.
Do you store my documents?
No, we do not store any of your documents. All processing is done client-side in your browser, and documents are automatically cleared from memory when you close the browser tab or navigate away from the page.
What cookies does DoctorDocs use?
We use minimal cookies for essential functionality, analytics (Vercel Analytics), and advertising (Google AdSense). You can learn more in our Cookie Policy.
Features & Usage
Can I edit the extracted text?
Yes! After OCR processing, the extracted text opens in our built-in text editor where you can format, edit, and refine the content. The editor supports bold, italic, underline, headers, links, quotes, and more.
What export formats are available?
You can export your documents in multiple formats including TXT (plain text), DOCX (Microsoft Word), PDF, and HTML. Simply click the export button in the editor and choose your preferred format.
Does DoctorDocs work offline?
DoctorDocs is a Progressive Web App (PWA) with limited offline capabilities. Once the initial page loads, basic features may work offline, but OCR processing requires the OCR engine to be cached. For best performance, an internet connection is recommended.
Can I process multiple documents at once?
Currently, DoctorDocs processes one document at a time to ensure optimal performance and accuracy. You can process multiple documents by uploading them sequentially.
Technical Issues & Troubleshooting
Why is OCR processing slow?
OCR processing time depends on your device's performance, image size, and complexity. Large files (over 2MB) or files with many pages may take longer. For faster processing, try compressing your images or using smaller file sizes.
What browsers are supported?
DoctorDocs works best on modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge (latest versions). For optimal performance, we recommend using Chrome or Edge with JavaScript enabled.
OCR failed or produced incorrect results. What should I do?
For better OCR results:
- Ensure the image is clear and high-resolution
- Check that text has good contrast with the background
- Avoid skewed or rotated images
- Try cropping the image to focus on the text area
- Use standard fonts when possible
